About the Project
Inspired by the artwork of American painter Ernie Barnes, this mural also celebrates urban life. The title, Ballet of the Street was a phrase used by NYC activist Jane Jacobs to describe the intricacies of the neighborhood fabric. The design was planned by students in the commercial art class at Reading Muhlenberg CTC, where lead artist Treasure Lopes was a student. Dozens of community painting sessions allowed hundreds of people to help with the painting of this mural.
