About the Project
Inspired by the rusted gas pump, Dean Rohrbach suggested look at an old Allman Brothers album cover as inspiration. It turns out the gas pump was installed by Kissinger Travel Agency, who used it to fill the blue Checker cabs that ran from their office. Roy and Sandy Kissinger (Roy's father owned the business) went on to share a story about the last charter train out of Reading to Atlantic City, to see the Beatles. Dun Wurkyn, the name on the old garage sign in the mural, was inspired over a beer at the West Reading Tavern (it's their signature brand).
You can hear Roy and Sandy's story about
Kissinger Travel's charter trains at WRMOTA .
