Watershed Wheat-paste    at the Berks County Heritage Center

The goal of this project is to create ephemeral works of art along trails that follow  Berks County waterways. The imagery is inspired by lifeforms found along the watershed, and was designed by local artists.  The screen printed posters are arranged to fit the space and reflect our complex web of nature.  This installation is tucked in along the west side the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center. 

About the Project

Street artists have often used wheat paste (a mixture of flour and water) to install printed posters as a form of guerilla art.  As a sustainable experiment to create works of temporary public art in less traditional spaces, the students in TExpL Summer Program helped design, print, and install the posters.  The  designs are inspired by lifeforms living in the watershed.  From stoneflies found in the clean waters of the sources of the Schuylkill River to the horseshoe crabs that congregate in the Delaware Estuary.
